Virgin Islands Geography

The Virgin Islands are located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. They are subdivided into two main groups: the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) and the British Virgin Islands (BVI). The group of British Virgin Islands is situated to the north-east of the USVI, to the east of Puerto Rico. They are made up of 4 larger islands (Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Anegada and Jost Van Dyke), and 32 smaller islands. Nearly fifteen of the islands are inhabited. The largest island of Tortola houses the capital of BVI – Rowd Town. The highest point is Mount Sage, located on Tortola. The weather of BVI is really hot but it should be said that the climate remains consistent because of constant cool trade winds.
